Schedule and Where to Watch the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix

We provide all the necessary information so you don’t miss a single detail of the upcoming Formula 1 Grand Prix, including schedules and the platforms where you can watch it.

The United States Grand Prix: A Classic in the F1 Season

The Formula 1 season is reaching its climax, kicking off the highly anticipated American tour before the year concludes in the Persian Gulf.

To begin this tour, the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, is the perfect venue, at least in terms of its name. This circuit, inaugurated in 2012, was born from a community initiative that allowed the community to become the owner of the track.

Designed with Formula 1 in mind, the circuit also aimed to attract MotoGP and other popular North American racing series, such as endurance racing, NASCAR, and IndyCar.

The influence of architect Hermann Tilke is evident in the circuit’s impressive structures, which also benefited from the collaboration of renowned driver Kevin Schwantz.

Circuit of the Americas Features

At 5.513 meters long and with a total of 20 turns, the track is notable for its first hairpin turn with a steep banked bank, followed by a series of linked corners that progress from fast to slow, culminating in the famous Turn 11, a delight for both four-wheeled and two-wheeled drivers.

Despite preconceived notions about the climate of West Texas and its deserts, Austin often surprises with its weather, where torrential rains can cause delays and the rescheduling of entire sessions.

Furthermore, Austin has revolutionized the concept of a Formula 1 Grand Prix by incorporating concerts, adapting to Liberty Media’s trends even before their arrival, which explains why qualifying at COTA is usually held later compared to other circuits in the same time zone.

Since the United States Grand Prix moved from Indianapolis to the Circuit of the Americas, twelve editions have been held, with the only exception being 2020. Lewis Hamilton has achieved five victories at this circuit, while Max Verstappen has come close with three consecutive wins between 2021 and 2023. Other drivers, such as Valtteri Bottas, Kimi Räikkönen, Sebastian Vettel, and Charles Leclerc, have also left their mark on this track.

Where to Watch Formula 1

As in previous years, Formula 1 fans in Spain have two options to follow the races. On the one hand, there’s Movistar, which has reached an agreement with the broadcasting rights holders. On the other hand, there’s the OTT platform DAZN, which, since 2021, has taken over the production and broadcast of the races, as well as the pre- and post-race programs, owning the rights since this year.

Both options offer the same content, although DAZN allows direct access via the internet with an active subscription, without the need for intermediaries.

DAZN: The Streaming Option

The popular OTT platform has established itself in the Spanish market, expanding its content offering every year. While MotoGP was its first major acquisition, the addition of Formula 1 has raised its profile, along with the inclusion of various other motorsports competitions.

Recently, DAZN also added La Liga (Spanish Football League), which has led to a price increase. Currently, it offers four subscription plans, three of which include dedicated motorsports channels: Motor, Pro, and Pro Multi-Home. There are also three payment options: monthly, annual installments, and a single payment.

The annual cost of the Motor package is €219.99, while the installment option is €19.99 per month. The monthly payment option costs €29.99. For the ‘Pro’ package, which includes part of the Spanish football league, the monthly fee is €39.99. The most economical option is the annual payment of €259.99, which equates to €21.66 per month.

The ‘Pro Multihome’ package, introduced this year, allows three simultaneous streams from two different locations and access to the entire DAZN catalog. Its annual fee is €489.99, or €40.83 per month if paid upfront. If you choose to pay in installments, the monthly cost is €44.99, while the no-commitment option costs €59.99 per month.

DAZN is available both on its website and through apps for mobile devices and Smart TVs, requiring an internet connection.

Movistar: The Traditional Alternative

To enjoy Formula 1 through Movistar, you need to subscribe to the basic package, which includes 600 Mbps fiber optic internet and mobile lines.
